Very Serious Thread

First, I want to thank all the members who have contributed to ths forum and have put their time trying to post every day. I really thank you for doing your best with all the busy lives that we have. I also try to post as much as I can to keep everyone happy.

This topic is not pointed at anyoen specifically, but I had to write it because of what Videl and I discussed today.

I'm going to put part of the blame on myself for demoting myself at a bad time, but I'll try to get some people to really understand the situation.

While we are getting new members ,right now no one on the forum jas true powers, which means we cannot move as much as we want as a community. Basically, no one can fully access the site. This is because the head admin, Goku, has disappeared for almost three weeks. I am not blaming him for anything so please once again, this not a name blame topic.

I feel extremely bad for both Frigid and Videl who have to do a lot of work every day to make sure the forum is running smoothly. It is not fair to them that they cannot enjoy posting as I do or anyone else. I try to help as much as I can, but really all I can do is post and keep the place active.

I try to post every day in every topic. Currently, I am in like seven since I've lost count.

The issue isn't with the community. It's with the circumstances.

What I really want to say is that I feel like we are in limbo. Like we are stuck. We can't move forward. I want the forum to succeed as does a lot of other people. It's just been difficult with the cards we have been dealt with. People should continue to post, but I thought it would be fair for everyone to know the true situation.

So right now I feel really confused whereas in the beginning was determined to push this site forward. I don't know what side of the fence I stand. Right now I just do the same thing every single day. I get up, check the forum, post, go do what I have to, spend time with the bf, come back, post once, and then go to sleep.

When I come on the forum, I want to move forward and help it become big. Howe can I do that if we are stuck at the same situation for the past 3 weeks with the head admin gone? I had the same post about 3 weeks ago how I was unahppy with all the work I had to do. Now the pressure is on Videl and Frigid to check profiles, put a new skin, grade PL's, make sure people are posting, and keep characters in check.

Everyone should be able to comeo n the forum and post calmly without having to be overloaded with work, but again we ar stuck in the same situation. I am getting to the point where it is getting tiring. It is getting really tiring. I love to post and I enjoy writing with everyone, but not being able to move forward or get things done, is weighing on me.

This is quite a difficult situation and there is very little any of us can do. First we have to face the problem. The rate of gaining members isn't as fast as one would wish, the staff are getting overburden by the work, and some members are working harder than others. I'm just a lurker, but I try to help from time to time, but not actually do any work. How could we improve? Well I would recommend not just posting for our, but social threads as well, like what music are you listening to, the RP spam topic, and even create your own. Another helpful thing is getting up a voting topic, so we the member, may actively participate in voting for our site, to attract more members.

Overburdening the staff is quite a task that can't be avoided, but could be helped. The staff may grant some user (I will not be one of these) powers temporarily, such as accepting profiles, or grading topics. This allows, mostly Frigid, to mostly expand the roots of the site onto other parts of the web. As I've seen, the three staff, Videl, Legendary, and Frigid have been putting a lot of work.

I also recommend revamping the site. Not as delete anything, just changing approaches. Example, thrash the current plot, and go with a less stress, more effienct, less time consuming one. Lower members require this so that they may enjoy it better. Make rules that if a person does not post in a time limit (aka: 24 hours to post), they are skipped unless the other person chooses to wait, or is given a good reason to wait. In topics, were a majority of the members leave should just be closed, for passing the time limit.

There are truly many methods to improve a site. From what I've seen, the only members that post outside of the RP section are Me, Chichi, Videl, Frigid/Krillin, and sometimes Vegeta. Those that allow insight towards topics, AKA, transformation, Just General Stuff, and so on are even lower than that. Participation off the RP is also something highly valued.

First thanks for the suggestions Ren you have helped. While there are soem personal issues on this forum, the forum itself at the moment is the most important to tackle.

This is the issue right here. None of the staff can do that. So basically, we are stuck like I said. Even when I was admin, I couldn't make people mods or anything. No one has full authority on the forum.

As far as the plot is concerned, we have already thought of one. The problem is that this forum was based on Goku's idea so these are the issues;

1. No one wants to hurt his feelings so we don't change anything
2. Most of the people's topics have been stuck because of Goku leaving. He is a major canon so yeah fail right there.
3, The saga can't continue until we get everyone in place or when everyone is on the same page.
4. We have to somehow advertise a broken forum that has issued currently.
5. The staff are overworked because new ones can't be added.

No one should have to be forced to post in other topics if they don't want to. This is a mainly rp focused forum. I understand that there are areas to chit chat, which I popst to make the community fun. Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that we are stuck.

Okay to argue, I would first like to point out the fact that Goku handed all his authority to Frigid, allowing him to do whatever he wants, and whatever it takes to maintain the forum. I believe Goku would agree with me on this aspect. If he disagrees when he comes back, if he ever does, he could simply change the way things are operating. Now this brings the power of managing the forum as you have described Chichi. That matters little when managing an RP, or promoting staff.

Most forums just give them a title, no more, no less. They have no mod power, nor admin powers, but they have powerful decisions that members cannot ignore. Just grant whomever you deem worthy of the title, and all the staff truly need to do is move the accepted profiles. Grading is done by the mod reading, then editing the member's post to show the change. This could also be done without the mod's power. All that is needed is that one post in their thread, and possibly a post in the Grade Me thread. The main reason, I assume, that the editing portion was done was to prevent from cheating, due to the edit tag that is added, and to prevent the overflow of the thread. This could easily be corrected by creating a new topic when there are too much pages on the thread.

WIth Goku disappearance, One might just as well post for him. Yeah he might not like it, but I believe he would accept it due to the importance of the Goku role. Also, earlier, Chichi, you have mentioned that Goku is too much of a focus since he is the main canon character of DBZ. This could change, due to the fact that this IS a AU RP. We could come up with an excuse, such as Goku caught an illness, and have a minisaga during the duration. Much like a filler episode.

Many of those Issues I have, well stated a solution, so I would just add that the site isn't really limited with staff advertising. There are many ways to advertise. Ask friends to join, add site to topsite and posting an advertisement on them.

With the thing about forcing others to post, I'm not saying that it is important, but its one of those factors that show activity to guests. Well If I wanted to add anything else, I forgot, so forgive me for such.
