Name: Malachi Savill
Alias: Malachi, Mal(For close friends.)
Race: Human
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Alignment: Good
Appearance: Malachi is a sturdily built young man with a slender build on an athletic frame. We is about six feet tall and weighs around one hundred and sixty pounds. Most of his weight is lean muscle. This combined with his build give him the appearance of a track runner as opposed to a body builder because he is toned, but not bulky. He has a fair complexion with only a light tan to disguise a scar running from his left shoulder down his chest. His light brown hair is medium length, just reaching the bottom of his ears on the sides and the back. His hair is parted to the left side above his right eye to keep his bangs from drooping and obscuring his vision. His eyes are Hazel in color, though there is a faint blue tint behind the smoky gray.
Malachi's usual outfits are quite simple. When he's living the semi-normal side of his life and not fighting or training he can often be seen in high tops or sneakers of various colors. His casual leg wear is generally loose fitting jeans or khaki pants complete with a belt. He rarely wears his shirt tucked in, and sticks to simple t-shirts most of the time. He prefers greens, blues, and dark purples, though he also wears blacks, whites, and grays as well.
His clothing when it comes to fighting or training is very different. He wears a green sleeveless vest with a white undershirt over his upper body. He wears black cloth wrist braces with a matching wide, black sash on his waist and black gomusin on his feet. His sash holds up loose, straight legged white gi pants.
Personality: Cool, calculating, and altruistic are three words that describe Malachi quite well. Respect, patience, and honor were all things that his mentor pounded into his head when he was younger and still learning the way of the martial artist. He is quick witted and can easily think on his feet. His thoughts aren't always as complex as he sometimes leads others to believe, though he is almost always thinking about something. He can get distracted easily if his thoughts wander a bit too far from what's going on around him, too. He is able to maintain a level of calm that few can claim, especially when things get rough. Some would even go so far as to call him stoic or steadfast because of his relaxed demeanor in unfavorable situations. Though he is quite intelligent and analytical in his nature of thought, it is his heart that has kept him from becoming the selfish egomaniac that his pride would otherwise have him be. With the culmination of his master's teachings of respect towards life and his heart's inclination to go out of his way to help others he has become a force for justice.
But there is a side of Malachi that most do not see. One that only makes itself known when his morals and values are questioned or when he is pushed too far. When an opponent shows no respect for him or anyone else he cares about, or when they're outright hurting and/or killing innocent people he tends to break away from his honorable and respectful tendencies. He will use every tool at his disposal to break them in any way possible. And then he will finish them off. In this way he is both cruel and merciful. He will go out of his way to make such a foe suffer for the duration of their fight, but then he will also give them a swift end when his victory is secured so that they won't suffer anymore. When he deems they've paid for their atrocities they will be put down.
History: Malachi is a man not from this time or plane he grew up far in the future when the planets within the galaxy were far more friendly with one another. A galactic alliance had even been formed to try and promote interplanetary trade, peace, and cultural intermingling. Not every race and planet were willingly part of the alliance, but war and strife was still at a minimum as far as the galaxy as a whole was concerned. It was in this time that Malachi was born. Some things about the world he lived in were similar to the way they are now. Martial arts was one of the foremost sports in the world. It was a tradition and lifestyle for some, a means of profit and a living for others much like it is today. His mother was from a family that held these traditions in high regard while his father was a technician for one of the space travel corporations.
He went through schooling like most kids, but his family's ties to the world of martial arts kept his mother and grandparents always on his back about training and practicing to prepare for the day that he might enter the World Tournament. Despite his father's best efforts to push him through college after high school, his mother and grandparents seemed to be much more adamant about him fighting in the tournament. He got tired of their constant bickering and left home with his own designs. He wanted to fight, but he couldn't focus with everyone yelling or reprimanding him about training, not training, going to classes, and everything else.
Things quickly changed, though. As the young martial artists focused his training inward to sharpen his mind and steel his spirit, he encountered a group of individuals in a fight that seemed surreal. All of them outclassed his own strength by a clearly visible margin. For the first time in his life he was unsure if this was a task he could handle. He watched the battle for only a few moments before making a bold decision and rushing into the fray. The two strongest fighters from either side seemed to be taking on one another in single combat. The remaining fighters were all in a skirmish together.
As far as combat went Malachi's presence made little difference. The fight seemed to come to a standstill shortly after he arrived. His only real impact was persuading one of the opposing fighters to walk away from her warped ideals and the twisted master she served. It was then that she explained that all the fighters they'd faced on that day had been influenced by a powerful form of mind control. The young woman was a Psychic, though, much like Malachi. Her force of will was a step above most, and even with mental conditioning she was still able to hold on to her own conscious thought.
The group Malachi had joined with regrouped with their new ally and made an assault on the base of the one that had enslaved people and experimented on them. With their combined efforts they defeated the opposing figthers in the second bout and put their master away for good, destroying his facilities and ensuring his work couldn't be continued. Malachi had experienced the feeling of being inches from death that day. So many instances where his life was only a hair from being taken by the stronger foes they had faced...but he somehow came out of it alive thanks to his new allies.
In this strange encounter Malachi became more than a simple martial artist trying to make his way in the world. He felt, deep down, that he'd found a purpose worth pursuing. He had found a reason to use his martial arts. He would be a Protector of the Earth. Knowing that there might yet be other enemies with such great strength out there, Malachi redoubled his training efforts.
Malachi's training proved beneficial in more ways than one. He had traveled to various planets in his search for new and powerful techniques, and in his travels he ventured to one of the primary Changeling planets. A tournament was being held there and, though Malachi would have preferred to fight in the Earth's World Tournament, this tournament would be an excellent test of his skills. One of the other participants was the strongest fighter from the group he'd joined up with back on Earth before. Each of the fights was intense, and Malachi quickly realized that the changeling fighters were a step above your average Earth warrior. Despite this fact, the tournament was inevitably dominated by Malachi and Damien, the other fighter from Earth. The two faced off in the final round, though the fight was inconclusive. It was interrupted by the Changeling prince, Frosst. The audience was bombed and the stands exploded into rubble, taking out the majority of the spectators. The tournament was called off before Malachi and Damien could finish their fight, but both vowed to meet again and finish the match. Damien took his partner, who had been watching from ringside, with him when he left.
Malachi had no knowledge that it was the prince's doings that caused the explosions. But he did speak with the prince, who had been overseeing the tournament, about the attack. The prince played it off as nothing, leaving Malachi in the dark of his true plans. It seemed that the Changelings had problems with the galactic alliance and the prince was making plans to address that problem in his own way. Malachi left the prince to his own designs, still clueless as to his true intent.
The young fighter didn't have much time to enjoy his return to Earth when he finally did arrive there, though. A monster known as the Shroud Master had made itself known from the void of space and was causing a great deal of trouble for numerous planets. It had arrived on Earth and was destroying cities with ease, as it was much larger than most skyscrapers.
He rushed to face the creature. There were already a few fighters gathered to face it, and they combined their efforts to combat the creature. Its immense power and gargantuan size made it difficult to damage, though, so they only managed to hold it at bay. At the best possible time the Changeling Prince, Frosst, showed up in his royal vessel. The ship made even the massive creature appear like an ant. He fired his ship's weapons at the creature and wiped it from existence easily. He landed in the crater his weapons left behind and addressed the group of warriors that he had so 'kindly' aided despite nearly killing them in the blast. After conversing with them for a short time he left them to head to Earth's government to speak of favors for exterminating the creature for them.
Malachi was annoyed by this, but he couldn't say much against it. For a time things seemed peaceful again. The Prince had managed to gain some favor with the Galactic Alliance, so his plans for conquest seemed delayed for the time being. Malachi resumed his training again. The peace wouldn't last. The psychic warrior's life was thrown into tumult once again when another group of unique fighters appeared trying to capture a kind young lady named Pia.
Malachi's first encounter with this strange group was not with Pia, herself. It was with the leader of the minions of the opposing army. It was no longer merely a fight between skilled fighters. It was now a war. Luckily he managed to meet this strange witch, Mitsuki, when she was scouting to locate Pia by herself. Malachi could tell that something was odd about her, but he did not want to think the worst from the get go, and he agreed to help her look for Pia on certain circumstances. He made her agree not to harm Pia in any way and not to harm any other innocents. Whether it was the difference in their strength or the fact that she seemed to have some sort of affections for him after their first encounter, she agreed.
They finally managed to find Pia along with a younger boy named Brandon, who was trying to protect her from the creatures in the army. Mitsuki vowed to change her ways and join them, but she was ripped through a dark portal before she could help them and more of the monsters from the strange army poured out of the portal. Malachi's frustrations over the disappearance of Mitsuki were directed at the creatures and he made quick work of the platoon that had them surrounded. He regrouped with Pia and Brandon and he and Brandon decided to set out in search of Mitsuki using Brandon's strange dark powers.
Though they managed to discover a fair amount about the enemies they faced in their search, they made the error of leaving Pia alone back on Earth. They ventured into the strange shadow plane that Mitsuki had been taken to and brought her back only to find that Pia had been captured in their absence. The three, along with another of the fighters of Earth from the original group that started it all for Malachi joined them. Though the general group consensus for what to do next was to head into the Hanin Plane, as it was called, and to confront Ater, the leader of this enemy group, and his forces. The youngest member of their group, Brandon, refused to this as his main goal was to save Pia instead.
The group went their separate ways to find a means of entering the Hanin Plane. Malachi and Mitsuki traveled together. Brandon and the other Earth warrior went their own paths as well. In their search for a portal to the Hanin Plane Malachi and Mitsuki encountered one of Ater's Generals. An angelic being named Helena faced them down. Mitsuki, having lost the bond of Ater's power, was not at a level where she could face such a foe, so Malachi took her on alone.
Their fight was intense and extensive. It was long and each fighter was one mistake, one small error, from immediate defeat. But neither gave in or wavered in their technique or strength. Malachi spoke to her over the course of the fight. He asked how one of such pure karma could fall prey to a power such as Ater's that seemed to desire only destruction and conquest. Their conversation was almost as heated as the battle that it encompassed.
Helena became uncertain of what to do and the fight ended without a distinct victor. She opened a portal for them and Mitsuki and Malachi ventured into the Hanin Plane. It was here that they were greated by Ater's second in command and the creator of the Hanin Plane itself, O'Zondo. Clad in dark purple armor and wielding a crimson spear he called Azanor, the demonic knight blocked their path into the palace where Ater resided and held Pia captive.
Malachi faced O'Zondo alone as well. Unlike his fight with Helena, this fight was not so even. Though the two managed to make no real mark on their foe, Malachi had only come away unscathed because he'd been dodging with all the speed his body could muster. O'Zondo's armor made him nigh indestructible. After getting tired of Malachi dodging his attacks, O'Zondo took off his armor and revealed his true strength. Though he wasn't as durable in his unarmored form his speed increased to an unbelievable level.
There was a saving grace for Malachi when his foe took off his armor, though. He was now vulnerable. Using an instantaneous movement technique he learned from the Yardratian king in his earlier travels, Malachi was able to strike a surprise blow at point blank range directly in O'Zondo's face, knocking him unconscious. Battered and bruised, Malachi went with Mitsuki to face Ater himself.
As they strode into the castle it became infinitely clear that defeating Ater was going to be nigh impossible. He could feel the presence of the man from the courtyard and the castle was massive and crafted from demonic energy, dampening the presence of those inside by a large degree.
They entered the main hall to find Pia and Ater sitting together happily, chatting about everything that had happened. Pia was a bit upset that he had caused so much destruction and taken innocent lives, but she was glad to see him again. They had a great deal of history together, from what Malachi could gleam of their conversation. Then Ater looked down to Malachi from his throne and they spoke. He explained that the beings in Malachi's universe had grown stale, stagnate, even. That they were taking advantage of what little good was left and most were selfish and vile. He explained that a pure being such as Pia was plagued by such feelings and this universe of theirs caused her sorrow and grief.
After a long conversation Malachi managed to reach an accord with the mighty planar traveler and his love. Malachi would do everything he could to watch over his own Universe and to protect it, bringing as much good as he could to bear. In exchange Ater must offer assistance where needed, but keep from meddling or causing trouble. Pia agreed to this knowing that Malachi's heard was in the right place from their earlier meetings and Ater was persuaded by her plea.
Ater soon came to have a unique respect for Malachi, and that respect was certainly returned by him. Though Ater ordered O'Zondo to lock away the Hanin Plane from the eyes of others, he gave Malachi a Key in the form of an obsidian ring should he ever wish to return. Malachi left for now, looking to settle down with Mitsuki and perhaps start a family of his own. He still had to keep vigilant watch over everything per his agreement with Ater, but with Ater's threat gone things went back to their peaceful ways once again.
Despite his plans to try and take it easy for a while, Brandon, the young man that had helped them against Ater's forces before, had become corrupted and possessed by a demon calling himself Raziel. Try as they might to save the boy, it seemed he was lost for good. And what made things worse was that Raziel seemed fixated on fighting Malachi and beating him. He was enraged by Malachi's mere existence. The boy's body wasn't strong enough to hold all of Raziel's power, though, and Malachi's own strength outmatched the boy's without ever drawing close to his full potential. Malachi would have left him alive for Brandon's sake, but the fiend threatened Mitsuki and countless other innocent people in his tirade. Malachi crushed him into dust, quite literally, and hoped that the good soul of the boy would be ripped from the demon's clutches so that he could rest in peace.
Though Brandon was left peacefully in the afterlife, the Demon managed to claw his way out of the underworld. And he came back at full strength. He kidnapped Mitsuki and threatened her if Malachi refused to fight. With his love in danger, Malachi stepped forward and their battle began again. The full power of Raziel was impressive and Malachi was forced to use all his strength. Even with that, though, the fiend held the upper hand. He took a shot at Mitsuki and forced Malachi to take the hit instead, knowing he wouldn't let her get hurt. As he was about to strike Malachi down, though, an old friend intervened.
Hyede, the peace-loving protector of Earth that had been with the original group Malachi first joined against the mad scientist, and the same warrior that had helped them against Ater's forces alongside Brandon, returned to Earth at an impeccable time. He had done some sort of extreme training and was now far stronger than even Malachi. Knowing there was no good in the monster known as Raziel, Hyede put the fiend away without remorse, beating him into submission and the obliterating him with a powerful Tesla Cannon lightening elemental attack.
Malachi thanked his friend and bid him farewell. One way or another, he had to leave his current time behind. With all the threats in the universe that knew of his presence, it would surely attract trouble to him. With the power of Ater's interplanar travel and O'Zondo's magic, he and Mitsuki made plans to go to a past time where they hoped they could live out their lives in some semblance of peace.
With the help of their allies, the two intentionally had their powers sealed within items that they held close. Their wedding bands, both gold, were infused with the bulk of their power. It was their hope that diminishing their strength would keep attention diverted from them and allow them the semi-normal life they had hoped for. As a fail safe in case things did get out of hand again, though, Ater installed a crack in the seal so that, through more training, their old power would return to them more quickly than normal.
Waving goodbye to their old life and hoping that their new one would hold happiness for them, the two stepped through the portal and appeared in the current world's West City. Adapting to the older technology wasn't too difficult for them, and they even managed to get a small apartment of their own in West City. It wasn't fancy, but it was home. Malachi was surprised to see that Martial arts were still popular in this time, and old habits tend to die hard. He found himself training once again in hopes of the fabled World Tournament. He's tried to convince Mitsuki to do the same, so he can have a training partner, but he's not sure if she's interested or not. For now, he's content with the life he has.
But with danger looming ever closer to his home, it is more and more likely with each passing moment that he will be thrust into combat for more than just honor and respect....
Powers and Techniques:
Telekinesis/Telepathy(Psychokinesis)
This covers the basic abilities and potential of using one's mind as a tool of communication, a form of extrasensory perception, and a weapon. As the brain functions on different wavelengths of electromagnetism, any powers derived from this ability will affect machines and the like just as they will effect organic beings.
As a tool of communication Malachi is capable of relaying thoughts, words, images, and even feelings to anyone he can see or feel the presence of. He can also receive the same information from them mentally, but they must be willing to cooperate and offer it willingly to him.
As a form of perception it allows him to feel the mental presence of any sentient being. Naturally those with similar gifts or abilities to this one will register as stronger than others. Though Powerlevel does have some bearing on this form of perception it is not the sole determining factor of one's mental strength. Thus, beings who can't be sensed as far as energy is concerned because they either hide their energy or do not exude it at all can still be detected in this manner. The only context for being 'seen' with this power is that you must have sentient thought and be in range of the user's sensory range. Also unlike sensing energies it is not the strength of the target that determines how easy and over what distance a being can be sensed. Instead it is the strength of the sensor.
As a weapon this can be used as an external or internal form of attack. Lifting and moving objects are the only real attacks this basic skill can do. More advanced techniques must be learned for this ability to really shine. Attacks against a target's mind do not take Powerlevel into account unless the target also has mental powers with which to combat the attack. Physical attacks using the mind, however, are under the same scrutiny as normal energy blasts.
TK Bullet - This is an advanced telekinetic skill. Nearly invisible to untrained eyes and traveling at extremely high speed, these blasts of mental energy can be fired from anywhere on the user's body, as they only require a point of focus to be generated. They do not do direct damage other than feeling like a normal strength punch from the user. Instead they disrupt and, if repeated hits are scored on the same area of the body, sever the connection of the target's mind to that part of their body effectively disabling it altogether. One will cause numbness to set in on the stricken body part, making it a bit more difficult to use with speed and finesse. Two or three will have it getting weak and feeling like jelly. Four or five hits in the same area and that body part will be disabled completely for at least a full turn of combat. Any subsequent blasts that strike the same area after it's disabled will have no effect as there is technically nothing there for them to disrupt or disable with the connection from body to mind already severed from that area. Blocking or deflecting this technique is possible, but only if it is done with a tool like a material weapon, armor, or perhaps another energy blast. Deflecting it or blocking it with one's own body will simply result in the part of your body you used to block suffering the effects of the technique as normal.
TK Saber - This is an advanced telekinetic skill. Very similar to the TK Bullet, the Saber is a sustained, close combat version of the technique. A blade roughly the length of a longsword extends from the hand of the wielder as though they were actually holding a physical, material weapon in their hand. It is highly compressed mental energy that is sharpened through one's focus in battle. In other words it grows stronger the longer a fight drags on. Unlike the TK Bullet, which doesn't do much in the way of raw damage unless used in massive numbers, the Saber is capable of immediately severing the connection between the mind of a foe and their limb. It will feel to them as if their limb has just been cut off as if by an actual blade. Unlike the TK Bullet, which only disables a body part for one turn, the Saber will do so for at least three full turns. Blocking or deflecting this technique is possible, but only if it is done with a tool like a material weapon, armor, or perhaps another energy blast. Deflecting it or blocking it with one's own body will simply result in the part of your body you used to block suffering the effects of the technique as normal.
After Image - Like so many other warriors in the universe today Malachi is capable of this high speed movement technique. By amping up one's body with energy and moving at a higher than normal speed it is possible to leave behind a still, flickering image of one's self to confuse and distract an opponent. If enough energy is surged through the body it becomes possible to leave behind multiple images along an extended movement path.
Nova Shot - One of the first real techniques Malachi ever learned. It is a highly compressed ball of energy fired from a single finger. It is usually the size of a golf ball in size and, thus, it can travel quite quickly. It is shaped like an arrowhead, so it delivers a painful piercing jab to the target just before it explodes. The technique isn't meant to blast a hole completely through the target. Instead it is meant to cause a small wound with the initial impact piercing the skin and going an inch or two deep. The real damage is the explosion, which erupts from the golf ball sized orb to become a roughly basketball sized burst. This rips open the puncture wound and causes collateral damage to the surrounding area. As it is an explosive technique it also produces a strong impact during the explosion which could send an opponent flying backward or crashing to the ground.
Roleplay Sample:
Malachi stood quietly in line, waiting to get an ice cream cone for himself and his wife. The sky was a glorious royal blue today and only the occasional white, fluffy cloud stood to change the view above. The park was filled with life from the good citizens of West City, all of which seemed to be enjoying the day just as much as Malachi. The only person that really mattered to him was Mitsuki, and for some reason she had been feeling uneasy since this morning. He did his best to comfort her, though. He payed the man at the back window of the ice cream truck and took the two cones in hand. He put on his biggest smile and strode back over to the bench where Mitsuki was sitting with her arms crossed, staring at the ground. He slyly moved her cone over beneath the brim of her tall, pointed hat. She didn't budge.
"Mitsuki?" He bent over with an eyebrow raised as he looked at her beneath her tilted hat's brim. She had dozed off. He smiled wider and snickered a bit before leaning back and licking his ice cream. Maybe she'd feel better after a nap. Then they could go for a walk together. He sat her cone down slightly under the bench so no one would hit it and knock it over and gazed up at the sky, letting the sun's warmth wash over him as he enjoyed the peaceful day to the fullest.
NOTE: I felt the need to go in depth with his mental abilities as I know from experience that they can become quite overpowered and very difficult to deal with if overused/misused. It's why I kept the generalized skill "Psychokinesis" as a basic level of the mental skills that covers lower levels of most psychic/telekinetic abilities and made the others into more specialized techniques. It should be noted that the disabling/crippling effects of the "TK" Skills that I've put in the application are affected by how strong Malachi is Vs. how strong the target is. If they are twice his power then the duration will be much less than if their power level is close to his own. And likewise the duration will be extended if he is stronger than they are. I'm merely setting a baseline for the techniques with these descriptions.
Also I'd like to know, are the basic energy blasts and the ability to use energy based flight required as two of your technique/power slots if you intend to have/use them? If they are required for OCs to take two of their slots in order to use them that's fine with me. I'll drop the two "TK" skills for them and save those abilities for later. :3
