Roshi has a very distingushable look. Aside from the blinding glare that appears once he enters a well lit area, the Turtle Hermit has a long white beard and black sunglasses for that dende-blessed sun! He usually sports some kind of breathable shirt, like a hawaiin button up shirt. Along side that are his shorts and sandals.
Oh and did I forget to mention the friggin' turtle shell on his back?
When he's not just chilling on his own private island, Roshi sports a orange long sleeve gi, blue gi shorts, and black slippers.
Master Roshi has many outfits in his closet for many different occasions.
Personality:
He is the definition of a father figure to his students; stern when needed, childish when he isn't. He looks for potential instead of power in his students. He groomed some of the worlds greatest warriors and will no doubt groom more. He will go out of his way to make sure his students are really ready to move on. When he thought Goku winning a tournament so early was a bad idea, he signed up as Jackie Chun just to prevent his student from potentially going down the wrong path. His selfless nature had him go and use the prize money on his pupil and friends, buying them a very good dinner after the tournament. It cost the entire prize winnings.
But alongside all of that goodness, there lies a side of Roshi that...let's say "appreciates" the female body. If he has a weakness, it's boobs. The slightest chance of seeing an exposed area will drive Roshi from a hardened(haha) veteran of his craft, into a preteen who just discovered super models. Many women of the DBZ Universe have experienced this. Even the scarier Android 18 was a subject to Roshi's dirty thoughts.
Despite his age, there are still quite a few fights left in the perverted geezer. He will lay down his life at the drop of a dime if it was to save the planet or to protect his friends. If his friends are in trouble, Roshi will listen to the demands of the attacker to make sure his friends are ok.
History:
Not much is known of his childhood besides that his sister is Fortune-teller Baba.
Roshi was very proficient in Martial Arts for a very long period of time. He was trained by a great master named Mutaito. Under his tutelage, Roshi improved his skills to legendary status. At some point, he discovered Korin's Tower. He spent three years catching the cat and drunk the Sacred Water, increasing his already impressive power and skills.
At some point later Shen, Roshi's rival, put their differences aside and fought the Demon King Piccolo alongside their master. However, they lost and their master left in search of a way to defeat the tyrant. Roshi moved to train in the mountains, never losing faith in his master. However, Shen was different. He thought that being 'good' wasn't enough, and left. When their master returned, him and Roshi went to confront the Demon King. Mutaito revealed the Demon Containment wave and died sealing Piccolo up. Roshi then took the container and dropped it in the deepest reaches of the ocean. Not long after, he built a school dedicated to his master and created the infamous Turtle Destruction Wave, or Kamehameha.
Powers and Techniques:
Master Martial Artist
--Roshi has had an advantage of eternal youth to expand his life forever. He spent the majority of this time training his craft. He's second to none in this department...in his prime.
Kamehameha Wave
--A creation of his own. He builds a large amount of energy into the palms of his hands and releases the wave, all while chanting the name of the technique slowly.
Demon Containment Wave
--A technique he learned from his master. He releases a wave that traps the enemy, usually a demon, and forces them into a item that is sealed. The cost of this technique is his life.
After Image
--It's no suprise that he has this move in his repitore. Even in his old age, Roshi is able to move fast enough to create clones of himself.
Hypnosis
--Roshi is able to hypnotize someone into falling asleep. Works better on weaker opponents.
Telepathy
-- Roshi is able to communicate with someone using only his mind.
Electric Surprise Attack
--His strongest technique. His ki turns into high voltage electricity and continuously shock his opponents into submission.
Roleplay Sample:
It was down to the final moments. It was an epic battle, but someone can only fight for so long. He was dazed, the room spinning around him. Possibly from the large amount of blood he had lost. His wounds were severe and he knew he wouldn't live to see the next day. A thunderous voice boomed to signal his opponent to finish him. And his opponent did. A swift cut the the neck and it was all over.
"You cheated!" Roshi tossed down the controller to the C-Box and folded his arms pouting.
"Aww come on, Roshi." Krillin grinned to hold in a chuckle. "You have to play Mortal Kombat to get better at it!" Krillin turned back to the screen and prepared a rematch.
Roshi sighed and stood from his position. "I think I'll call it a day." It was midnight and the gang had been over his house all day. Their day consisted of Barbecuing, telling jokes, a few embarrassing matches of Mortal Kombat between Yamcha and Krillin, and most of all, everyone just had fun.
"Ok then." Krillin got up from his seat infront of the TV. "I'll see you in the morning then." Roshi did an immediate about-face. "Don't you have your own house by now?" Roshi nagged in an overly dramatic fashion. Krillin just laughed and said something about a part 2 to the party tomorrow. Roshi didn't pick most of it up. He had something on his mind.
After Krillin had gone to bed and everyone else retired home, Roshi walked his small beach. It was a habit he had gained from being a worrisome master and his pupils facing enemies stronger than his wildest dreams. Tonight was no different. He stared off into the ocean and thought.
'Where are you Goku?'
His pupil had mysteriously vanished and nobody seemed to want to shed any light on the events that caused his disappearance. Maybe they thought he would attempt to find Goku by himself. Roshi chuckled at the thought. As much as he would love to find him, the perverted hermit knew he had a role he needed to play.
He was the comfort zone. Whenever something bad happened, eventually everyone will come back to the island to regroup with loved ones. The only time they don't go there, the Earth was in immediate danger. Roshi was needed now more than ever to bring his friends threw this.
He even knew that the party's was just a way for something good to happen to take their mind off of the stress. If he up and left, that would shatter and lives could be lost.
No, Roshi knew he had to wait. He had to be patient. He had to believe in Goku and trust that wherever he is, he'll come home once he can.
